in this tutorial we’ll look at how to installand register fl studio. this procedure also covers updating with your lifetime free updates.so the first step is to head over to flstudio.com. on the home page you will find a downloadlink. the same installer is used for the demo and purchased versions of fl studio. if youown it you just need to unlock it as i will show in a moment. it also means if you’reusing the demo, and then purchase fl studio, you don’t need to install it again, justunlock it with your image-line account. next, select one of the download options andclick to download. we get over 30,000 downloads a day and so provide several download optionsto keep download speeds fast. ok take note of where the installer is saved. there isa single installer for both fl studio 32 and
64 bit. you will get 2 icons to run either, after installation. after downloading double-click the installfile to start the installation. windows security will throw up some warnings, just click okor yes to these and proceed. just select the defaults. one area for attention is the plugindatabase. you can choose for it to be categorised or a flat - alphabetical list. for now i willgo with the default. the installation folder will usually be flstudio followed by the version number. you can change this location or folder name tomake multiple parallel installations. for example fl studio 12 and fl studio 11 willautomatically install to their own folders, so you can run them side-by-side. if you areupdating from 12 to 12.1 then the update will
install over the top of the existing folder.don’t worry you won’t lose any personal files. fl studio only overwrites its own data. these are the default vst plugin locations,so go with the defaults here too. when the installation is complete, you will see twofl studio icons, one for 32 and one for 64 bit. i’ll open the 64 bit version. the first thing is to go to the options > audiosettings and make sure the audio driver is set to fl studio asio. or if you have issueswith that you can try asio4all. asio is a high performance audio driver that will lowercpu usage and latency. latency is the delay between playing a note and hearing the sound.
i’ll select fl studio asio. click here toopen it. i have it here set to 1024 samples. a good place to start. the two options belowallow you to select audio inputs and outputs. you only need to set these if you are havingtrouble getting sound in or our of fl studio. default will use your windows settings. oklet’s test. excellent. next let’s register and unlock fl studiofrom demo. if you have an internet connection the quickest way is to use the about paneland enter your image-line account email and password. then click unlock products. thiswill unlock fl studio and all plugins you have purchased from demo. easy as that. if you don’t have an internet connectionyou can unlock fl studio and products with
a registry file. log into your image-lineaccount. then click on my licenses, to check fl studio and any other products you own arelisted. great. you will notice there are some installationand registration instructions here too. now click on the unlock products tab on the left.then click the unlock image to the right to start the flregkey.reg file download. takenote where it saves and then you can copy this to any computer you want to unlock flstudio for. to unlock the best method is to right-click the file and select merge. thenyes/ok to the security pop-ups to allow the key to be written to the registry. and you’redone. if for some reason the file .reg is not recognizedthen right-click it and select open with > choose
default program > registry editor. after that run fl studio and it will be unlockedfrom demo to the level you purchased. this will show on the about panel. registrationincludes any additional plugins or content you have purchased. for your information,we allow you to install fl studio on any computers for which you have a personal account. theonly restriction is that you are the only user of fl studio. thanks for supporting image-line and the flstudio community. why not check out some other tutorials here on our youtube channel. enjoy,fl studio!
